Cranford

Established in 1871, Cranford is known for its close-knit neighborhoods and historic homes nestled along the Rahway River. Local residents can enjoy the many activities in the nearly 400 acres of county and municipal parks and open space, as well an extensive recreation program with a community center. There are three municipal pools operated on a membership basis, and a private pool. The Rahway River meanders through the community, offering canoeing and fishing, as well as ice skating in the winter. town’s community center, library, parks, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools or canoeing on the river.

In 2019, Cranford won the NJ.com Best Downtown in NJ. In both 2019 and 2018, The Star-Ledger named Cranford the best downtown in New Jersey, calling it "adorable and snowglobe-like."

Cranford Public Schools offer innovative programs and consistently receive high rankings both nationally and at the state level, K-12. The town is also home to Union County College main campus.

Cranford’s bustling downtown consists of restaurants and specialty shops, as well as smaller neighborhood shopping areas, like Centennial Village, are also revitalized with new restaurants and businesses. The town is served by the NJ Transit bus and Raritan Valley train line, making it desirable for outbound and inbound commuters.
